A resident named David has called West Park Place home since 1989. And in those 33-odd years, David has endeared himself to an entire team of people. He lived independently until last Christmas when a bad fall meant he needed assistance.
Our team of familiar faces and some newly recruited helpers took it upon themselves to move David to the Assisted Living neighborhood, where he could get the daily assistance he needed. This wasn’t without pause and concern. David had to adjust to his new surroundings a lot. But he was adamant he wanted to return to West Park Place.
Great care was taken to ensure David’s personal belongings and, most importantly, pieces of furniture made the journey safely. His new space was lovingly arranged to be accessible, familiar, and comfortable. New routines were created to meet his needs, and the David we know and love began to flourish again.
The Ohio Assisted Living Association Community Leadership Award recognizes Assisted Living communities that display exemplary leadership by their core teams, including overall operational leadership, staff, resident and family engagement, and regulatory compliance.
