June Resident Of The Month Bob Lark

Meet Bob Lark, Traditions' June Resident of the Month! For a year and a half, Bob has called Traditions at Hunter Station, which is only 10 minutes away from his son and daughter-in-law, home.

Bob, a native of Evanston, Illinois, a picturesque suburb north of Chicago, has a rich academic background. He graduated from Purdue University in 1956, majoring in Civil Engineering. While pursuing his degree, he gained practical experience in the Engineering Department of the Milwaukee Railroad, working at various locations on the main line between Chicago and Seattle, Washington.

After graduating from Purdue, Bob served in the Air Force for three years at a radar station in northern Minnesota. Afterwards, he returned to civilian employment with the Milwaukee Railroad in the Real Estate and Industrial Development Department at Chicago Union Station.

When the railroad was nearing bankruptcy in 1970, Bob and his family moved back to Minnesota, and he became a realtor in the Minneapolis area.

Bob's life is enriched by his loving family. He was married to his beloved wife for 55 years until her passing in 2015. Together, they raised three children, Doug and his wife, Alisa, who reside in New Albany, Indiana, Stuart and his wife, Tonya, who call Colorado Springs, Colorado home, and Patty and her husband, John, who live in Greenfield, Indiana. Bob is also a proud grandfather to 6 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Bob's leisure time is filled with his passions. He is an avid fan of college football and basketball, particularly supporting the Boilermakers. His love for trains is evident in his collection of train memorabilia, some of which are displayed in museums across the country. He even owned a real caboose, which he generously donated to the train depot in Minnesota.

Time spent at his Eastern Heights Baptist Church is also very important to Bob.

When asked about his favorite activities at Hunter Station, Bob said, "I enjoy the singers and performers that come to entertain."

"We nominated Bob Lark as Traditions' Resident of the Month because of his service to our Hunter Station community and his church," said Executive Director Kathy Jones.

Anita Culver, Community Relations Director, agreed, "Bob always greets fellow residents and Hunter Station's staff with a smile and a kind word."
