Meet Kay Carr, our August Resident of the Month! She was born in Cincinnati and grew up in the quaint suburb of Anderson, Ohio, situated along the Ohio and Little Miami Rivers, approximately 13 miles from Cincinnati.
Kay has called Traditions at Camargo home for nearly 3 years, citing the beautiful building, its resort-like grounds, and the proximity to the idyllic downtown area of Madeira as one of the many reasons for choosing our community. Kay is also very social, so she loved the myriad of activities and events offered – ice cream socials, happy hours, exercise classes, games, and book club, to name just a few. Additionally, Kay appreciated the ability to have both Independent and Assisted Living under the same roof, which accommodated their needs individually and as a couple.
Kay and her late husband, Bob, have 3 sons (their middle son passed away 15 years ago). She proudly said she also has, “4 wonderful grandchildren, and 2 beautiful great grandchildren, with a third on the way!”
Before retirement, Kay was an administrator for the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In her free time, she enjoys playing cards – specifically Bridge and Hand, Knee and Foot (a variation of Canasta). When asked what her favorite meal is at Traditions at Camargo, she said she enjoys, “Chef Syd’s BLTs.” She also enjoys “very cold drinks” while engaging in her favorite activity of playing cards; Kay loves the myriad options available for socializing at Camargo.
“It was our honor to nominate Kay Carr as Resident of the Month at Camargo,” stated Stephanie Stoll, Community Relations Director. “We chose Kay because she’s an instrumental part of our community. Kay’s positivity, empathy, and energy are contagious. She’s kind and thoughtful; a true friend to her fellow residents. Kay goes out of her way to make new residents feel welcome.”
Jamie Ervin, Camargo Activities Director, added that as President of the Birthday Committee, “Kay goes above and beyond planning and recognizing all residents’ birthdays, as well as encouraging other residents to help plan and attend their fellow residents’ birthday celebrations.”
Brian Wurster, Executive Director, noted, “Kay takes great pride in her home at Traditions at Camargo! We are so fortunate to have her in our Camargo family!”
