We are proud to recognize John and Leore Bethune as this month’s Residents of the Month at Traditions of Saginaw’s Main Campus!
Although they’ve only lived at Traditions for two months, John and Leore’s connection to the community goes back years. They attended the grand opening and have known more than a dozen friends who’ve called Traditions home. When the time came for their own move, it felt like the perfect fit - especially with the support of their sons, who helped guide the transition.
From their very first tour, they said, “It felt like home.” Being able to bring their own furniture made their apartment even more personal and comforting.
Born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, John and Leore have built a life full of family and service. John served in the Army for two years before spending 38 years at Michigan Bell. Leore also worked at Michigan Bell for five years before transitioning to real estate once their children were older. Married for an incredible 69 years, they raised five sons (one now passed) and are the proud grandparents of eight - with nine great-grandchildren and one more on the way.
Together, John and Leore were active in their church and community. They led the PTA, oversaw their church’s youth program, and John volunteered as a Cub Scout master and usher for over 30 years. Leore enjoys bowling and cards, and jokes that her hidden talent is “bringing out a lot in John” - he was shy until she came along.
These days, they enjoy the welcoming environment of Traditions of Saginaw. John especially loves the breakfast options, and both enjoy the entertainment and social atmosphere. “The staff is so friendly,” they say, “and we recommend Traditions to anyone looking for a senior living community.”
Tara Hannon, Executive Director, nominated the couple, saying, “John and Leore are the perfect example of a smooth and positive move-in. They had open minds and trusted their family’s support - and now Leore’s sister is moving in right next door!”
