MARCH EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

Lynn Sparks – Receptionist
Traditions of Columbus

MARCH EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTHMeet Lynn Sparks, Traditions March Employee of the Month! Lynn was born and raised in Linton, a small coal mining city located southeast of Terra Haute, Indiana. Lynn has been the receptionist at Traditions of Columbus for 2 years.

Lynn has been married to her husband, Jack Sparks, for 56 years. They have two children, Jo and Eric, and have four beautiful grandchildren, Ryne, Aaron, Trevor and Lainey.

When we asked Lynn if she had any hidden talents, she stated, “Well, according to my four grandchildren, I am a pretty darn good cook. It’s definitely not a hidden talent from them, but my co-workers and residents might be surprised.”

In her free time, Lynn said, “I love to travel, shop, discover new restaurants, and most importantly, spend time with my family and friends!”

After 34 years as an elementary school teacher, Lynn had no idea that she would be blessed with a second rewarding career, stating, “Just like the children I taught brought me joy, I find that same joy with the residents at Traditions of Columbus.”

Lynn is an integral part of the Columbus team, interacting with their residents throughout her day. So, we were curious to know if she had any particularly rewarding experiences to share with us.

Without hesitation Lynn smiled and said, “One of the residents and I have a ‘candy game’ that we play each week. He always surprises me with a treat, and I likewise do the same for him. It is something we both look forward to…it is such a joy to see his reaction!”

She went on to say, “I am so grateful that Stacey took a chance and hired this retired teacher! I love working at Traditions!”

Stacey Gallardo, Traditions of Columbus Executive Director, feels just as fortunate to have Lynn as part of her team, “Lynn is such an important part of our Traditions family. She is caring and genuine and greets every resident, family, staff, and visitor with a smile. We are so lucky to have her!”
