This month, Traditions Management’s Dementia Education Series will focus on a common symptom of Alzheimer's and other forms of Dementia - Sundowning. Sundowning is the increase in the symptoms of agitation and confusion which occur during the late afternoon or early evening hours in a person with Dementia. Lori will also provide tips on how to combat Seasonal Sundowning as we approach the fall and winter months.

"My dad was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia more than ten years ago, and I learned how challenging it was to be a caregiver for a loved one with this disease. At the same time, my mom was dying of metastatic breast cancer, I had twin five-year-olds and was working as an adjunct professor. My brother also died just three years later of Frontal Temporal Dementia. So, I know how important it is to connect with family members who are struggling to understand dementia and the care it requires. I am here to support family and professional caregivers with the tools they need, most notably to meet loved ones and residents right where they are in their mind. Once we identify the type of dementia, and pair that with an understanding of social history, we can provide a truly customized and thoughtful therapeutic approach to caregiving. It is my privilege to be a part of Traditions' Varietas Memory Care program, truly one of the best in the country."
Lori and her husband Eric have 17-year-old twins, Jaxon and Jordyn, their miracle babies who are gearing up for college visits.
