Traditions Management Dementia Education Series

Understanding the Stages of Dementia

In this month’s Dementia Education Series webinar, Lori Horstman, Vice President of Cognitive Care for Traditions Management, will focus on the Stages of Dementia. Lori will help you understand what to expect during this difficult journey with your loved one.

About Lori Horstman:
Lori has a Bachelor's in Social Psychology and a Master’s in Geriatric Psychology and Family Studies from Miami University, as well as more than 25 years’ experience as a trainer, speaker and educator, with a Dementia Care specialty. She is a Certified Dementia Practitioner, Certified Alzheimer’s Disease and Dementia Care Trainer, Certified First Responder Dementia Trainer, Certified Dementia Support Group Facilitator, Certified Montessori Dementia Care Professional and a Certified Teepa Snow PAC Trainer.

"My dad was diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia more than ten years ago, and I learned how challenging it was to be a caregiver for a loved one with this disease. At the same time, my mom was dying of metastatic breast cancer, I had twin five-year-olds and was working as an adjunct professor. My brother also died just three years later of Frontal Temporal Dementia. So, I know how important it is to connect with family members who are struggling to understand dementia and the care it requires. I am here to support family and professional caregivers with the tools they need, most notably to meet loved ones and residents right where they are in their mind. Once we identify the type of dementia, and pair that with an understanding of social history, we can provide a truly customized and thoughtful therapeutic approach to caregiving. It is my privilege to be a part of Traditions' Varietas Memory Care program, truly one of the best in the country."

Lori and her husband Eric have 17-year-old twins, Jaxon and Jordyn, their miracle babies who are gearing up for college visits.
