Meet Paul Figgins, our June Resident of the Month! Paul’s daughter and son-in-law helped him choose Traditions of Lebanon, which he has called home for nearly a year.
“My dad was a minister. Although I was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado, I grew up all over the United States. We also lived in Nebraska, Kansas, Connecticut, Illinois and Ohio.”
Paul and his wife, Phyllis, are the proud parents of 2 daughters and 6 grandchildren. Prior to retiring, Paul was a chemist at his own laboratory [at the mound], and enjoyed science and math, cave exploring and fishing in his free time.
“Traditions of Lebanon is exactly the proper place for me at this stage in my life,” stated Paul. “I now enjoy reading as well as playing cards in Lebanon’s Euchre Club.”
When we asked Paul what his favorite meal at Lebanon is, he said “potatoes and gravy” without hesitation.
“I just love all the cooks here; they do an awesome job.”
Beth Deupree, Lebanon’s Executive Director, said they chose Paul as Resident of the Month because, “He always has a smile on his face and in his heart. He is a Resident Ambassador for our community and makes sure that he welcomes every new resident. Paul checks in on them daily after they move in, invites them to activities and to sit with him at meals.”
Monique Campbell, Lebanon’s Community Relations Director, agreed, “Paul is a very active resident and loves to include everyone. He runs our Walking Club, where they walk 1 mile every day. He always carries a deck of cards in his pocket and is always up for playing a card game! He organizes and facilitates our euchre games and tournaments.”
